Dear Allen,

Thank you for your question about how to cultivate calmness during difficult times. It's an essential inquiry that many individuals grapple with in today's fast-paced world.

In our modern society, convenience often comes hand in hand with stress, overwhelming our senses and placing our nervous system in a perpetual state of fight or flight. While the immediate stressors may come and go, our nervous system often remains on high alert, leading to a host of lifestyle diseases and emotional imbalances.

Through my personal experiences in life, I understood that learning to regulate our own nervous system should be a fundamental part of our education. It helps to know a few mechanisms behind nervous system regulation because it gives you resilience, patience and a different point of view during challenging times or situations.

Regulating the nervous system allows us to return to a state of peace amidst chaos. You can use different techniques such as mindfulness, deep breathing exercises, and gentle movement to soothe your nervous system before applying the deeper techniques of Navel Consciousness.

One of the key aspects of regulating your nervous system is to cultivate a sense of self-love and compassion. By holding a kind and loving space for ourselves, we create a foundation of inner peace that radiates outward, positively impacting our life and relationships, which in turn calm the nervous system. Its becomes a contributive cycle.

This is why one of the first things I do in private sessions or Festival Of Clarity workshops and retreats is to help my students and clients to develop personalized mental health routines that prioritize nervous system regulation and self-image development. It opens up space for inner clarity. Emotional well-being follows suit.
